Storytime Promises Magic—and Surprises

,

Storytime, our annual event celebrating the power of words and strength of our community, is just around the corner. Our theme for this year is Surprises, and we’ve been planning an evening that’s delightful, inspiring, and one-of-a-kind.

Storytime Chapter 2 will feature magical performances, an interactive exhibit providing a fun glimpse into the power of early learning, and a book fair for grown-ups with a handpicked selection of books from Thank You Books—all featuring plot twists, unique narration styles, and other “surprises.”

There will be delicious food and drinks from local partners Zaza and and Golden Age. We also recently shared the full and diverse range of storytellers who will be on-stage for our September 19 event. They include Alabama Poet Laureate Ashley M. Jones, Birmingham City Councilor J.T. Moore, writer and podcaster Erin Hicks Moon, professional storyteller Landon Bryant, and celebrated local jazz musician José Carr.

Last year’s event was hugely successful raising awareness and funds that support early literacy for children across Birmingham. We’ll be sharing a few more surprise collaborators and sponsors in the weeks ahead, and would be thrilled to have you join us for the magical evening itself on Thursday, September 19. Tickets are selling fast!

It’s amazing how small things can make a lifetime difference for children, setting them on a path for literacy, school readiness, and future success. Your support of our work likewise makes a huge and enduring difference for Birmingham’s children and for our community. Together, we have a lot to share and a lot to celebrate.
