Part of our flagship initiative, Birmingham Talks, our innovative program for families has been proven to impact early literacy, resulting in children being 3X more likely to be ready for kindergarten literacy assessments.
Babies need to hear 21,000 words a day for optimal brain development.
We provide parents with a wearable technology device (typically only available to the very wealthiest families) that counts how many words your child hears so that you can gauge their development and set goals for their growth. We also provide books and educational toys and connect you with a personalized coach, someone who understands what you’re juggling and can help you set (and reach!) your goals for your child.
This program is currently offered to families with children under 5 that live or work in Jefferson County.
